Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems has released her highly anticipated debut album, “Born in the Wild,” on Friday, June 7, via RCA Records and Since ’93. This 18-track project marks a significant milestone in Tems’ career, showcasing her evolution as an artist and her bold reintroduction to the music scene.

“Born in the Wild” features collaborations with notable artists Asake on “Get It Right” and J. Cole on “Free Fall.” The album also includes the hit singles “Love Me JeJe” and “Me & U,” which Tems premiered during her performance at Coachella in April. “Love Me JeJe,” a reimagining of Nigerian singer-songwriter Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 hit, climbed to No. 4 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 9 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. “Me & U” achieved similar success, reaching No. 3 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 27 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It also won the Outstanding International Song at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards. In May, Tems performed the album’s title track and “Love Me JeJe” on “The Tonight Show.”

The release of “Born in the Wild” comes three years after Tems’ last EP, “If Orange Was a Place,” which peaked at No. 7 on the World Albums chart. That EP featured the popular track “Found,” a collaboration with Brent Faiyaz, who is currently featured on Billboard’s latest cover.

To support her debut album, Tems is set to embark on the “Born in the Wild World Tour,” her first full-length global tour. The 31-date tour kicks off at London’s Eventim Apollo on June 12 and will traverse Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, before concluding in Australia with three performances in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney in November. Special guests Naomi Sharon and Lekan will join Tems on this extensive tour.

“Born in the Wild” is now available for streaming on all major platforms. This album not only solidifies Tems’ place in the music industry but also highlights her unique blend of Afrobeats and R&B, promising a transformative listening experience for fans worldwide.
