Sean Kingston, the 34-year-old singer known for his hit song “Beautiful Girls,” and his mother, Janice Turner, were indicted today in a Miami federal court on charges related to a $1 million wire fraud scheme. Both Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his 61-year-old mother could face up to 20 years in prison for each of the six counts against them if convicted.

The charges include one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud. The indictment alleges that Kingston and Turner engaged in a scheme to defraud sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other luxury goods.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida stated that the defendants enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had made bank wire or other monetary payment transfers, which ultimately never went through. This fraudulent activity reportedly allowed them to acquire over $1 million worth of property.Kingston

Kingston was initially arrested in California on May 24, following a SWAT raid on his mansion in South Florida. His mother was also arrested during the raid. The arrests came after a lawsuit was filed against Kingston for allegedly not paying for luxury items. This isn’t the first legal trouble for Turner, who has previously faced issues related to false loan applications and bank fraud.

Kingston is widely recognized for his music career, including collaborations with Justin Bieber. According to an attorney representing one of Kingston’s accusers, the singer allegedly uses his celebrity status to convince people to release luxury items to him without payment, promising future payment that never materializes. The attorney claims that Kingston presents himself as a wealthy celebrity, even though he resides in a rental property, to deceive his victims.
