Rapper NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, will not face additional prison time after pleading guilty to charges related to a prescription drug fraud case. The 24-year-old artist appeared before a Utah judge on Monday, November 18, where he resolved 10 out of 46 charges stemming from an alleged scheme to obtain prescription drugs illegally.

Gaulden admitted to two counts of third-degree felony identity fraud, two counts of third-degree felony forgery, and six counts of misdemeanor unlawful pharmacy conduct. The remaining charges were addressed with a “no contest” plea.

As part of the plea agreement, 1st District Judge Spencer Walsh dismissed the case without imposing incarceration or probation. Gaulden was, however, ordered to pay a $25,000 fine.

The judge’s leniency was influenced by the rapper’s ongoing 27-month federal prison sentence for unlawful gun possession, an unrelated case. Upon completing his sentence, Gaulden will also serve five years of federal probation.

Authorities accused the Louisiana-born rapper of orchestrating a prescription drug fraud ring while under house arrest in Huntsville, Utah. According to reports, Gaulden allegedly posed as a doctor to acquire codeine and other prescription drugs illegally.

The scheme unraveled earlier this year when law enforcement linked fraudulent prescriptions to Gaulden’s residence.

YoungBoy’s legal troubles have been an ongoing saga. His current incarceration stems from a 2021 arrest in California, where he was charged with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Despite his ongoing legal battles, the rapper has remained prolific in his music career, continuing to release chart-topping albums and singles.

With this Utah case now resolved, Gaulden can focus on serving out the remainder of his federal sentence. The father of 10 remains a polarizing figure in the music industry, celebrated for his raw lyricism while facing scrutiny for his legal challenges.

While his future is uncertain, YoungBoy’s ability to navigate his legal and personal struggles will undoubtedly shape the next chapter of his life and career.
