Kim Kardashian is standing firm against critics of her daughter, North West, as the 11-year-old gears up for her music debut. The reality star has had enough of the backlash surrounding North’s performance as “Simba” in the Hollywood Bowl’s live tribute to The Lion King, which resurfaced on February 7 when the concert special hit streaming platforms.
Many viewers took to social media to critique North’s performance, prompting Kardashian to step in with a sharp response. In a recent episode of The Kardashians, she addressed the negative commentary, making it clear she expected the backlash but wasn’t here for it.
“I already know what’s coming… that she’s not Whitney Houston. Duh! Or, that she got the job because of her parents,” Kim stated. “North is the moment. People want to see her on TikTok or anywhere because she’s a personality – a performer.”
Kardashian didn’t mince words when addressing accusations of nepotism, firing back at those targeting her daughter.
“Anyone that wants to hate on a child that is having the time of their life… f-ck you,” she said in the Hulu clip.
Despite the controversy surrounding her Lion King debut, North is moving forward with her creative pursuits. It was recently confirmed that she is working on her first album, titled Elementary School Dropout, a nod to her father’s iconic debut The College Dropout.
In late January, Kanye West took to Instagram to share his excitement about the project, stating that working with North reignited his love for music.
“This little girl made me love music again,” he wrote in a now-deleted post. “She asked me to make beats for her; I got back on the ASR, chopped up beats for her album…”
North first revealed she was working on the album at a listening party for Kanye’s Vultures 2 last year, sparking curiosity among fans. However, there has been no official announcement regarding a release date for the project.
As anticipation builds, one thing is certain—North West is stepping into the spotlight, and her parents are making sure she has the freedom to shine on her own terms.
