Renowned music producer and hip-hop mogul Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, is facing serious allegations of rape and prolonged physical abuse in a federal lawsuit filed by Cassie, an R&B singer who was once signed to his label. Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, claims the abuse spanned approximately a decade, outlining a disturbing pattern of control and violence dating back to 2005 when she was 19 years old.

According to the lawsuit filed in Federal District Court in Manhattan, Cassie accuses Combs of subjecting her to control, physical abuse, and forced drug consumption. The suit alleges that Combs assaulted her, filmed her engaging in sexual acts with male prostitutes, and, in 2018, forcibly raped her.

Cassie broke her silence with a statement saying, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”

In response, Combs’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, vehemently denied the allegations, characterizing them as “offensive and outrageous.” Brafman claimed that Cassie had demanded $30 million from Combs over the past six months, threatening to write a damaging book about their relationship. Combs rejected this demand, leading to the lawsuit.

Douglas Wigdor, Cassie’s lawyer, stated that Combs had offered eight figures to silence her, an offer she refused. Wigdor emphasized that Cassie’s decision to file the lawsuit was not driven by financial motives but rather by a commitment to sharing her story.

This lawsuit follows a trend of sexual assault civil suits against prominent figures in the music industry, highlighting a broader reckoning with abuse and misconduct. The legal battle is expected to unfold as both parties present their cases, and it marks a challenging chapter for Sean Combs, a figure long associated with the commercial success of hip-hop.
