Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid has unveiled a fresh track, ‘Kese Dance,’ as anticipation builds for his forthcoming album, Morayo. The song, which dropped on streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday, marks the second release from Morayo following his recent collaboration with American singer Brent Faiyaz on ‘Piece of My Heart.’
Morayo, set to launch on November 22, holds special significance for Wizkid. The album is a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. Known for pushing boundaries, Wizkid has been clear that Morayo is a departure from his past work in Afrobeats, urging fans who are solely interested in Afrobeats to skip this release. “I am not an Afrobeats artist. Don’t call me that,” he emphasized, hinting at a new musical direction.
The release of ‘Kese Dance’ adds to Wizkid’s extensive body of work, which includes iconic albums such as Superstar, Ayo, Sound From The Other Side, Made In Lagos, and More Love, Less Ego. Since his debut in 2011, Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, has risen to international fame, earning accolades including a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on ‘Brown Skin Girl.’
With Morayo, Wizkid promises a unique sound, inviting listeners to explore new facets of his artistry. Fans worldwide are eager to see what this bold new chapter will bring.
