Afrobeats sensation Wizkid has returned with a fresh new single, Piece of My Heart, featuring American R&B singer Brent Faiyaz. The highly anticipated track offers a blend of smooth rhythms and emotional depth, showcasing both artists’ signature styles. Fans were treated to a teaser of the song earlier this week when the duo shared an Instagram clip, set against the backdrop of a luxurious countryside mansion.

In Piece of My Heart, Brent Faiyaz opens with a soulful chorus, crooning, “Nothing can tear us apart/You’ve got a piece of my heart/Nothing can tear us apart,” setting the tone for the heartfelt collaboration. Wizkid follows with his own lyrical introspection, confessing, “If I ever hurt you, I mean well, what I gotta do to make you know it’s all real?/If I could, I would keep you to myself.” As the song progresses, the tempo slows near the three-minute mark, with Faiyaz reflecting on the price of fame, singing, “She doesn’t know, what it cost to live this life/Your price ain’t low, that’s why I write best on these flights.”

The collaboration comes shortly after Wizkid and Faiyaz were spotted together in Paris earlier this month at the Business of Fashion’s BoF500 Gala, where Wizkid performed fan favorites like Ojuelegba and Essence. The latter track, featuring Tems, was named the best song of 2021 by Rolling Stone.

Piece of My Heart is part of Wizkid’s upcoming sixth studio album, Morayo, which translates to “I see joy” in Yoruba. Described as a deeply personal tribute to his late mother, Morayo is expected to resonate emotionally with fans, following the artist’s previous successes, including the critically acclaimed More Love, Less Ego in 2022 and Made in Lagos in 2020. The latter was nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

As Wizkid continues to evolve musically, Piece of My Heart adds another layer to his global influence, blending Afrobeats with a timeless R&B feel. The collaboration with Brent Faiyaz signals Wizkid’s continued growth and his knack for making music that strikes a chord with listeners around the world. Fans are already looking forward to what Morayo will bring when it’s released.
