British rapper Pa Salieu, known for his rapid rise in the UK music scene, has been released from prison after serving 21 months of a 33-month sentence. The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Pa Salieu Gaye, was convicted in December 2022 for violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon, a bottle, following a 2018 altercation in Coventry.
The incident, which took place outside Coventry’s Club M, escalated after Salieu’s close friend, Fidel “AP” Glasgow, was fatally stabbed. Glasgow, who was the grandson of Neville Staple from The Specials, was just 21 years old at the time of his death. Salieu, along with ten other men, was involved in a brawl in the aftermath of the stabbing. Prosecutors alleged that Salieu attacked a 23-year-old man with both a bottle and a tree branch during the fight. However, despite several arrests related to the brawl, no one has been charged with Glasgow’s murder.
Upon his release, Salieu shared a message on social media, writing, “I been gone for a while but I still made it back to you 👑,” signaling his return to his fans and the music industry. His representative also confirmed his release to Pitchfork.

Pa Salieu first gained widespread attention with his debut mixtape, Send Them to Coventry, released in 2020. The project showcased his unique blend of Afrobeat, rap, and UK drill influences, earning him critical acclaim. He followed up with the Afrikan Rebel EP in 2021 and went on to collaborate with artists such as FKA twigs, Ibeyi, Aitch, and Mura Masa. His talent was further recognized when he was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2021 BRIT Awards.
Salieu’s career has been marked by both his musical achievements and legal challenges. In 2015, he received a suspended sentence for possessing a knife, a charge that resurfaced during his 2022 trial. Despite these setbacks, Salieu remains a prominent figure in the UK music scene, with his recent release from prison reigniting interest in his work and future projects.
As the rapper steps back into the spotlight, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how his experiences have shaped his music and career moving forward.
