Rising rap star Sexyy Red isn’t mincing words when it comes to how she feels about her position in today’s music industry. In a recent candid interview, the unapologetic St. Louis native opened up about the hate she believes she receives simply for thriving in a space that many never expected her to.
“They don’t like seeing me win,” she said bluntly. “I feel like I’m the most hated female rapper out right now.”
Sexyy Red, known for her unfiltered lyrics, viral anthems, and raw social media presence, has carved out a lane all her own. While critics often dismiss her style as unconventional or too explicit, her ever-growing fanbase sees her as refreshingly real in a music scene that can sometimes feel overly polished.
Despite charting hits, sold-out shows, and co-signs from major artists, Sexyy Red said she feels constantly overlooked and unfairly judged, especially when compared to her female peers.
“I didn’t come from no perfect background. I’m not trying to be nobody I’m not,” she said. “People get mad because I’m just being me—and I’m still making it.”
But even with the backlash, the rapper remains unfazed. Her confidence and boldness continue to fuel her momentum, and she seems more determined than ever to silence the naysayers through success.
“If you hate me, keep watching,” she added. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Sexyy Red’s remarks tap into a broader conversation about how authenticity, especially from Black women in hip hop, is often met with resistance or harsh critique. Still, in the face of it all, she’s standing tall—and staying loud.
