Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema added two more accolades to his growing collection at the 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards. While the artist dazzled at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring-Summer Show during Paris Fashion Week, his global hit ‘Calm Down’ was earning him the coveted Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song awards.

Co-writers and co-producers of ‘Calm Down,’ Michael Hunter, known as London, and Andre Vibez, were also credited as winners, recognizing their contribution to the song’s success.

These new accolades bring Rema’s American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards tally to three, marking the highest number of ASCAP awards won by a Nigerian or African artist.

This year alone, Rema has emerged as the most awarded African artist, securing six major awards. His impressive haul includes one Trends Award in Brazil, one iHeartRadio Music Award, one ASCAP Pop Music Award, and now, two ASCAP London Music Awards.

‘Calm Down’ continues to break records, recently becoming the first Afrobeats song in history to earn over 1 billion on-demand streams in the United States. This milestone solidifies Rema’s status as a global music powerhouse and a leading figure in the Afrobeats genre.

Reflecting on his achievements, Rema expressed gratitude for the support from his fans and collaborators. “It’s a dream come true to see ‘Calm Down’ resonate with so many people around the world. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing team behind the song,” he said.

As Rema continues to push boundaries and bring Afrobeats to a global audience, his success at the 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards marks another significant milestone in his flourishing career.
