R&B sensation Khalid has spoken publicly for the first time since being outed by a man claiming to be his former boyfriend. The singer, known for hits like “Location,” confirmed his sexuality and expressed pride in who he is. However, he also addressed serious allegations made by the individual, Hugo Almonte, who accused him of abuse and manipulation.
The controversy began when Hugo Almonte publicly shared a photo of himself with Khalid, outing the singer while labeling him “ugly” and accusing him of toxic behavior. Fans were left stunned, prompting Khalid to respond on Instagram Live days later to clarify the situation and share his perspective.
Speaking to his followers, Khalid admitted he was deeply affected—not by the outing itself, but by the allegations that accompanied it.
“All of this is definitely frustrating. I’m not gonna act like I’m unbothered. I never said I was unbothered by anything. This is very bothering,” he said during the live session.
Khalid strongly refuted Almonte’s claims, asserting that the accusations of abuse were not only untrue but that the roles were reversed during their time together.
“It’s triggering because it’s the other way around, and that’s what hurts,” he explained. “It’s just crazy to me regarding the stories of the abuse.”
The singer also denied ever using drugs with Almonte, specifically countering claims of cocaine use.
“I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life,” Khalid stated.
Khalid revealed that his relationship with Almonte ended over four years ago and that he hasn’t had any contact with him since.
“The last time I talked to this guy was four years ago. This is all random; I don’t know why he did it,” he added.

Hugo Almonte, who gained attention following his claims, has yet to provide any concrete evidence to support his accusations of abuse or manipulation. Rolling Stone reported that Almonte promised to release proof, including evidence of Khalid attempting to “silence” him, but as of now, nothing has been shared.
Despite the allegations, Khalid urged fans to respect his privacy, reminding them that his personal life should not be a public spectacle.
“Nobody knew because I don’t want everybody in my business,” he asserted, wrapping up his Instagram Live session.
Khalid’s response has garnered support from fans and fellow artists alike, many of whom have praised his bravery in addressing such a sensitive and personal matter publicly. While the situation remains unresolved in terms of Almonte’s accusations, Khalid’s focus remains on his music and his journey of self-acceptance.
The R&B star’s candid response highlights not just the challenges of navigating fame but also the importance of standing up for oneself in the face of false allegations.
