Kanye West is once again at the center of controversy after a series of inflammatory social media posts targeting multiple communities. Yet, rather than backtracking, the rapper and fashion mogul has doubled down, claiming that his recent outbursts have only boosted his sales.

West, known for his unpredictable behavior, has had an eventful week. Fresh off a red carpet appearance at the GRAMMYs, he made headlines by revealing he had been diagnosed with autism and boldly declaring himself the only rapper capable of defeating Kendrick Lamar in a rap battle. However, those statements paled in comparison to what followed.

On Thursday, February 6, West took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a series of antisemitic, homophobic, fatphobic, and ableist remarks that sparked intense backlash. Rather than walk back his statements, he returned to the platform on Friday, February 7, with even more incendiary claims.

Among his most shocking statements, West defended his previous praise of Adolf Hitler, revived racial slurs, and made sweeping criticisms of both Black and White communities. He also launched a tirade against the body positivity movement, making degrading remarks about overweight individuals and even admitting that he refuses to hire “fat or ugly people” at his Yeezy brand.

Despite calls for his cancellation, West appeared unfazed, claiming that instead of losing support, his business has actually thrived.

“MY SALES DOUBLED SINCE LAST NIGHT,” he wrote. “DAMN THE WORLD MUST BE RACIST LIKE ME.”

The backlash to West’s comments has been swift, with social media users and advocacy groups condemning his rhetoric. However, some observers note that controversy has often fueled his brand, with past scandals failing to derail his career permanently.

For now, it remains to be seen whether his latest round of remarks will have long-term consequences—or if, as he claims, they will only serve to strengthen his influence.
