Jay-Z has made it clear that he did not pay a settlement to the woman who accused him and Diddy of assault in a lawsuit filed last year. The case, which alleged an incident dating back to 2000, was voluntarily dismissed by the anonymous plaintiff on Friday.
The rapper’s attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that Jay-Z stood firm against the claims and refused to settle. In a statement, Spiro expressed that the lawsuit should never have been filed in the first place.
“The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice,” Spiro said, according to AllHipHop. “By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can—he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”
The lawsuit’s dismissal “with prejudice” means the accuser is legally barred from re-filing the case in the future. While Jay-Z has remained largely silent on the matter, his legal team’s response suggests a firm stance against what they call baseless allegations.
