During a guest appearance on a popular livestream hosted by xQc, Canadian rap star Drake addressed Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album GNX, which reportedly takes direct aim at him. Despite the perceived attacks, Drake remained composed, asserting his resilience and dismissing Lamar’s lyrical jabs as “fairy tales.”

Drake remarked, “I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairy tales won’t do it.” This bold statement underscores his belief that Lamar’s criticisms lack substance.

This isn’t the first time the two rap titans have clashed. Their long-standing rivalry dates back to 2013 when Lamar’s controversial “Control” verse named Drake among several other artists. At the time, Drake downplayed the verse’s impact, stating, “[Kendrick] is giving people moments, but are you listening to it now, at this point in time? It was real cool for a couple of weeks.”

On the livestream, Drake also reflected on the current state of rap music. When xQc asked about his musical tastes, Drake quipped, “Rap music is weird now anyway.” This sentiment aligns with his recent ventures into genre-bending tracks, including a Spanish-language collaboration with emerging artist Chino Pacas. While the track has received mixed reviews, it demonstrates Drake’s willingness to explore new musical frontiers.

Drake has spent much of 2024 in the spotlight, navigating conflicts with notable figures like Rick Ross, Future, The Weeknd, and Kendrick Lamar. Following his response to Lamar’s The Heart Pt. 6 with his own rendition of the track, Drake hinted at further developments in their rivalry. For now, fans eagerly await his next move.

With GNX and Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance generating buzz, the rap world is watching closely as these two icons continue their dynamic interplay of competition and artistry.
