Dr. Dre, the celebrated producer, reflects on a decision from his past that still weighs heavily on him despite his decades of success.

During an interview on Lindsey Renee’s Behind the Patrol podcast, Dre confessed to a regret that has haunted him over the years: selling his entire record collection, a move he admits he’s “not proud of.”

The discussion arose while reflecting on the sampling of Leon Haywood’s 1975 track “I Want’a Do Something Freaky to You” in his song “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang.” Dre revealed that he no longer possesses a copy of the sampled song due to selling off his extensive vinyl collection around two decades ago.

Sharing his remorse, Dre lamented the decision to part ways with his collection of over 80,000 albums, stored in a warehouse. He explained that the warehouse, which once served as a sanctuary for his music, gradually became a financial burden as he rarely visited.

Reflecting on the sale, Dre expressed frustration at himself for taking a decade to make the decision, only to regret it deeply afterward.

The confession unfolds in the podcast episode, providing insight into a side of Dr. Dre rarely seen by the public.
