The 2025 edition of Billboard Women in Music was a night of celebration, sisterhood, and powerful moments, as the music industry gathered to honor the women pushing boundaries and shaping the sound—and soul—of today’s music.
Held on March 6 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, the event recognized a diverse slate of trailblazers, including rising stars, seasoned icons, and influential behind-the-scenes figures. Headlining the honorees was genre-bending rapper and performer Doechii, who received the Rising Star award. Known for her fearless style and electrifying performances, Doechii took to the stage to perform “Alter Ego” and used her acceptance speech to spotlight women’s strength and vulnerability in equal measure.
Another standout of the night was Tina Knowles, who received the Impact Award. As the mother of Beyoncé and Solange, Knowles’ influence spans generations, but the award recognized her personal impact on culture, fashion, and female empowerment. Her heartfelt speech paid tribute to the many women who create change not in the spotlight, but behind it.
Global breakout star Tyla, fresh off her Grammy win, was presented with the Emerging Artist award. The South African sensation delivered a vibrant performance of her viral hit “Water,” solidifying her spot as one of 2025’s most exciting artists to watch.
Singer-songwriter Muni Long, known for penning hits for others before stepping into her own spotlight, was honored with the Powerhouse Award. Her stirring performance and emotional speech highlighted the value of persistence and the importance of owning one’s narrative in the music industry.
Other honorees included Victoria Monét, Charli XCX, and Ice Spice—each of whom brought their unique flair and stories to a ceremony that underscored how multifaceted women in music truly are.
Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event didn’t just shine a light on artists—it illuminated the strength, creativity, and resilience of women across the music ecosystem. From performers to executives, the night affirmed one thing loud and clear: the future of music is female, and the future is now.
