Dame Dash believes Kanye West intentionally adopts a “crackhead” aesthetic with his latest fashion choices, suggesting it’s a deliberate form of trolling.
The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella made an appearance on Willie D’s podcast on January 16. During the episode, they delved into discussions about the co-founder’s former signee, with Willie D, a member of the Geto Boys, expressing his longstanding disapproval of Kanye West’s actions and seeking Dame’s perspective on the matter.
Dame commented, “He’s someone who consistently stirs controversy. Just examine his career – from stating ‘George Bush doesn’t like Black people’ to interrupting Taylor Swift. It’s a series of calculated publicity stunts aimed at provoking reactions. Similar to Trump, when he makes a racist remark that we condemn, there are others who embrace it. He’s not speaking for us; he’s catering to those who support it, much like Trump. It follows a similar pattern.”
He added, “That’s why I don’t bother with him. He’s a provocateur. Look at how he has everyone dressing like a mess, intentionally. It’s all part of his trolling game. Walking around barefoot – it’s a troll move. ‘Watch me make guys wear tights and go barefoot!’ We may not have explicitly discussed it, but when I see it, I think, ‘Okay, he’s acting up,’ but I understand it’s deliberate. You know? He craves the reaction; why else would he engage in those antics?”

Dame Dash has addressed Kanye West’s conduct before, particularly in the aftermath of the controversy in 2022 when Ye faced criticism for making antisemitic remarks online and in interviews. At that time, Dame advised a gathering of aspiring entrepreneurs that engaging with Kanye was “draining” and emphasized the importance of prioritizing his well-being over his words.
“In footage recorded by AllHipHop, Dash responded to a question about being a guiding figure for Kanye during his challenging times, stating, “You think big brother turns off? Yeah, I’m in touch with him, and it’s draining. But, you know, he’s bipolar. People overlook that. Regardless of wealth, if you have a chemical imbalance, you’re bound to say some erratic things.”
He went on to say, “Have you ever known someone with bipolar disorder? You don’t expose them to cameras; you place them in a supportive environment like a home or a hospital. When triggered by a chemical imbalance, and especially when fatigued, people tend to express the most outrageous statements. It’s akin to the way one behaves when intoxicated.”
“Well, I know him. I do have conversations with him, and I attempt to help. It’s distressing to witness someone with bipolar disorder, surrounded by a billion people who may not genuinely care; it’s not a conducive situation.”
While Kanye West initially acknowledged being bipolar, he later suggested he shows signs of autism due to a car accident in the early 2000s. It’s crucial to note that autism is not a condition acquired from a car accident.
