R&B star Chris Brown has responded to recent claims made by singer Tank, who controversially suggested that Brown is a better artist than the legendary Michael Jackson. Tank’s comments, made during his appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s talk show last week, sparked widespread debate and backlash. The singer argued that Brown surpasses Jackson in areas like production, songwriting, singing, and dancing—a statement that didn’t sit well with many fans who hold the King of Pop in the highest regard.

In response, Brown took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the ongoing comparison. Posting a clip from an older interview, he firmly rejected the idea that he could be considered greater than Michael Jackson. Brown made it clear that he held immense respect for Jackson, crediting him as the reason he was able to pursue a career in music.

“That’s cap. I stay the hell out of it [the debate],” Brown says in the video. “My personal take is that I wouldn’t even be breathing or being able to sing a song if that man didn’t exist.” He continued by drawing a parallel between the debate and the sports world, likening it to discussions about Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, but he insisted there’s no real comparison. “I can’t even look at it, he’s lightyears ahead. There is no competing with him, hell no. I got shrines of this man hanging up at my house. Hell nah, I’m not better than Michael Jackson.”

With this response, Brown made it clear that he sees Jackson not only as a major influence but also as an untouchable figure in music history. Rather than engaging in the debate, Brown expressed his admiration for Jackson and acknowledged the pivotal role the late star played in shaping his career.

While Tank’s comments stirred controversy, Brown’s graceful response has resonated with fans who appreciate his humility and respect for one of the greatest entertainers of all time. As the debate continues among fans and music critics alike, Brown’s stance leaves no doubt that in his eyes, Michael Jackson remains unmatched.
