A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has extended Megan Thee Stallion’s restraining order against Tory Lanez, prohibiting him from making any contact with her until January 9, 2030. This decision comes amid claims that Lanez has been orchestrating harassment against Megan from prison.

Judge Richard Bloom granted the extended protective order on Thursday after reviewing evidence suggesting that Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, may have used third parties to intimidate and discredit Megan. Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan in the feet during an altercation in 2020.

Megan alleged that Lanez’s actions have continued from behind bars, including attempts to damage her reputation through false claims spread online. Call logs from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi were presented in court, reportedly showing Lanez coordinating efforts to attack Megan’s credibility on social media platforms.

Despite Lanez’s attorney, Michael Hayden, opposing the extension by arguing that Lanez’s incarceration negates any immediate threat, the court found sufficient grounds to uphold the order. Hayden also claimed there had been no recent direct contact between the two parties.

The restraining order stems from an initial temporary order Megan obtained in November. At the time, she accused Lanez and his associates of spreading misinformation about the case, including allegations that evidence such as the firearm and bullet fragments were missing.

Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm. His appeal of the convictions is currently pending after a motion for a new trial was denied.

The 2020 shooting occurred after a party at Kylie Jenner’s home, where Megan testified that Lanez fired at her feet while yelling for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV.

Since the incident, Megan, now 29, has risen as one of hip-hop’s biggest stars, earning a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2021 and achieving chart-topping success with tracks like “Savage” featuring Beyoncé and the viral sensation “WAP” with Cardi B.

Lanez, 32, made his mark in the music industry with his mixtapes and major-label albums, two of which reached the Billboard Top 10. His attorney, Michael Hayden, has yet to release a formal statement regarding the extension of the restraining order.

The court’s decision underscores the ongoing legal and emotional impact of the case, which continues to reverberate in both the legal system and the music industry.
