Usher appears to be gearing up to include roller skating in his performance at the upcoming Super Bowl in Paradise, Nevada.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Nadeska Alexis, which aired on Thursday (February 8), the R&B legend shared details about his upcoming show at Allegiant Stadium, set to take place during the halftime of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
He said: “I thought about a few moments that were special in dance, I thought some things I created here in Las Vegas, like skating, and doing things that I’ve not done on stage up until this point, to be able to share that with the world.
“For everybody that heard about my show in Las Vegas, you’re now going to get a chance to see some of what I did here, but you’re going to see the best of it because it’s in front of 60,000 people in this room and hopefully another 180 million people for the world to see.”
Last week saw the release of the latest album from the 45-year-old artist. Titled Coming Home, it stands as his first complete project since 2016’s Hard II Love, comprising a total of 20 tracks.
The tracklist includes previously-released singles such as “Good Good” featuring 21 Savage and Summer Walker, “Ruin” featuring Pheelz, “Risk It All” featuring H.E.R., and the “Usher Remix” of Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You.” Furthermore, the album showcases collaborations with Burna Boy, Latto, and The-Dream.
The project is being launched through a collaboration between mega and gamma. The former, helmed by veteran music executive L.A. Reid, marks Usher’s publicly acknowledged ownership stake in the venture.
“Coming Home” marks mega’s inaugural release, showcasing Reid’s longstanding relationship with Usher, which began when the singer was signed to LaFace Records at the tender age of 14.
Gamma. is a multimedia platform that offers creative and business services across various artistic and commercial formats. It was established by Larry Jackson, former Apple Music Global Creative Director, and Ike Youssef, a seasoned music executive.
Usher provided insight into the album’s title, stating, “Coming Home is an ode to returning to one’s roots, wherever or whatever they may be. I’m Coming Home to a place where I feel comfortable being my true self.
