During a recent podcast, Tyla, South Africa’s hottest music prospect, discussed how her experience with R&B superstar Chris Brown during what she called “the best boot camp of her life” helped shape her performance.

It’s common knowledge that Chris Brown was one of the first stars to give Tyla a chance. In early 2023, Tyla opened for Chris Brown during his “Under the Influence” European tour, and later on that year, in July, she released her biggest hit so far, “Water”.

The song propelled Tyla’s career to new heights, making her a global sensation after a video of her performing the accompanying dance during a live show went viral on TikTok, amassing millions of likes.

Tyla revealed that Chris Brown would attend her shows disguised as a member of the audience to watch her perform, giving her feedback on what she needed to improve, which she found extremely helpful.
