Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems, known for her hit “Love Me JeJe,” recently set the record straight about rumors regarding her alleged pregnancy and her thoughts on body positivity. During her appearance on The Breakfast Club on September 10, the artist not only discussed her upcoming album, Born In The Wild, but also tackled bizarre rumors that surfaced in 2023, claiming she was pregnant by rapper Future.
DJ Envy, one of the show’s hosts, brought up the topic, asking Tems if she ever had to address such rumors with her family. Tems responded with a lighthearted yet bewildered tone, saying, “Oh yeah. I feel like people just take the most controversial thing they can think of. I was wondering, why am I pregnant and why Future? Why not Wiz[kid]? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else?”
The rumor in question, which initially surfaced in September 2023, suggested that Tems was expecting a child with Future, her collaborator on the song “Wait For U.” In response, Tems quickly debunked the claim with a playful social media post, writing, “In conclusion, you people are all mad!” alongside a photo of herself, making it clear that the rumors were unfounded.

During a separate interview with Nigerian platform Drive Time Show, Tems expressed her surprise at how seriously people took the claims, revealing that she even received death threats over the false story. “I didn’t actually think anybody believed it,” she said. “I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages, like death threats. People were saying, ‘How dare you! Of all the people in the world, Future? Really? Really, of all the people?’ And I’ve never even met him in my life. So, it’s crazy.”
As Tems’ body continues to attract attention, she also touched on the topic of her natural curves during her Breakfast Club interview. Guest host Loren Lorosa asked if the attention surrounding her figure ever bothered her, to which Tems responded confidently, “Not at all. I don’t even notice it unless they’re telling me directly, like, ‘Oh you’re beautiful’ or ‘You look good.’ I just think people are happy to see me.”
Tems added, “If they’re happy to see me because of my body — I don’t know, I don’t care. I’m just like, ‘Okay.’”
As the 29-year-old artist prepares for the release of her highly anticipated album, Born In The Wild, her candidness about rumors and her body sends a powerful message of self-assurance. While the public may sometimes focus on her appearance or controversial rumors, Tems remains unbothered, choosing instead to focus on her music and her journey as an artist.
With her down-to-earth attitude and undeniable talent, Tems continues to captivate audiences worldwide, proving that she’s much more than just the headlines that surround her.
