Hip-hop mogul T.I. and his wife, singer-songwriter Tiny, have officially won their legal battle against MGA Entertainment, securing a full $71 million payout in a copyright infringement lawsuit. The couple, who fought for years to protect the intellectual property of their girl group, the OMG Girlz, can now celebrate a major courtroom victory.
The lawsuit, which dates back four years, accused MGA Entertainment of using the likeness of the OMG Girlz for their L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls without permission. The toy company denied any wrongdoing, dismissing the claims as a “money grab,” but the court ultimately ruled in favor of T.I. and Tiny.
Initially, the couple was awarded $71 million in damages in September 2024. However, the case took a turn when the judge questioned the financial determination and issued a tentative order last month. Despite the uncertainty, a final ruling has now confirmed that T.I. and Tiny will receive the full sum.
Tiny, a former member of Xscape and a key figure behind the OMG Girlz, took to Instagram to share the good news. Expressing her surprise, she admitted she didn’t expect the payout to be so large but was grateful for the outcome.
“We would’ve been happy with whatever, but they blessed us more than beyond,” she said.
This case marks a significant moment for artists fighting to protect their creative work from corporate misuse. T.I. and Tiny’s legal battle highlights the importance of intellectual property rights, especially when it comes to preserving the legacy and image of artists in the entertainment industry.
With this victory, the couple has not only secured justice for the OMG Girlz but also set a precedent for future cases involving artist representation in commercial products.
