In a development that has sent shockwaves through the music industry, American rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was reportedly taken into custody on Thursday night in Florida. The rapper now faces serious charges, including allegations of involvement in a murder-for-hire plot. Currently held without bond, Banks is being detained in Broward County Jail, awaiting transfer to the custody of U.S. Marshals.
The arrest follows the earlier detention of five additional suspects on similar charges, including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire. Authorities have connected these arrests to the 2022 murder of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of fellow rapper Quando Rondo, who was fatally shot in Los Angeles amid what officials describe as ongoing gang conflicts.

Federal prosecutors identified the other suspects as Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. The suspects are believed to have sought retaliation against Rondo, whom they accuse of involvement in the 2020 murder of Chicago rapper King Von in Atlanta. This incident has continued to fuel tensions and disputes among those associated with the rap scene.
Lil Durk’s arrest has sparked widespread public reaction, with fans and industry insiders closely watching as federal authorities further investigate the high-profile case. Legal experts are already weighing in on the potential impact of the charges, as new developments in the case are expected in the coming days.
