MohBad, a Nigerian artist known by his real name Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has passed away. The former signee of Marlian Records reportedly died at the age of 27 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The news was shared by music executive Ovie on his social media page, #Ovieo, on Tuesday evening. He tweeted, “It is confirmed. MohBad has passed away. This is a very sad day.”
Shortly after news of the singer’s death broke, an old video of Bella Shmurda mentioning MohBad’s recent struggles with mental health resurfaced online.
MohBad gained recognition with the release of his debut album, titled “Light EP,” in the final quarter of 2020. The album followed the success of his viral song “Ponmo,” which featured Naira Marley and Lil Kesh. He was widely known for his popular singles such as “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and “Ko Por Ke” with Rexxie, which received three nominations at The Headies Awards in 2022. Throughout his career, MohBad collaborated with various artists including Davido, Zlatan, Oladips, Small Doctor, Lil Kesh, Bella Shmurda, Lil Frosh, and others. His music was characterized by relatable and streetwise lyrics that reflected everyday life and experiences.
