Nicki Minaj, one of the biggest names in rap, has found herself at the center of a new legal battle. A fan, Tameer Peak, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the rapper, accusing her of slander, defamation, and battery. Peak, who claims to have been a loyal supporter of Minaj for 15 years, alleges that the star repeatedly humiliated him, called him a “mentally unstable stalker,” and that her husband, Kenneth Petty, physically assaulted him.
According to reports, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and paints a troubling picture of the relationship between Minaj and one of her self-proclaimed biggest fans. Peak alleges that tensions began in 2017 during what Minaj described as the “Nicki hate train” era, a period when she felt targeted by critics and detractors. Peak claims that Minaj began accusing her fans, including him, of being paid informants trying to sabotage her career.
In his legal filing, Peak details several instances where he believes Minaj publicly ridiculed him. He alleges that in one incident, Minaj invited him to her hotel room only to record and embarrass him on Instagram Live in front of thousands of viewers. He also claims that during a Super Bowl weekend event in 2020, Kenneth Petty, Minaj’s husband, allegedly assaulted him, after which Minaj messaged him regarding the incident.

The allegations don’t stop there. Peak states that over the years, Minaj has targeted him on various social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter) and Stationhead, where she interacts with her fans. In one instance, Minaj allegedly described him as “not necessarily a full basket at the picnic,” which Peak interpreted as an insult to his mental stability. Additionally, he claims that Minaj made insinuations about him receiving government assistance, implying that he might be mentally unwell or on welfare.
Further worsening their relationship, Peak asserts that Minaj told her record label that he was a stalker who impersonated members of her team. These allegations have reportedly caused him significant emotional distress, reputational harm, and financial loss, leading to his hefty lawsuit.
Responding to the claims, Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, strongly dismissed the allegations, stating that Peak has been harassing the rapper for years and that this lawsuit is simply a financial shakedown based on false claims. He also indicated that Peak could be liable for Minaj’s legal fees under California law.
As this case unfolds, it sheds light on the complex and sometimes volatile dynamics between celebrities and their most dedicated fans. Whether these claims hold up in court remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: this legal battle is far from over.
