Ghanaian singer Essilfie has emerged victorious in the highly anticipated AfroFuture Rising Star Challenge 2023. The results, announced last week, showcased Essilfie’s exceptional talent, as she surpassed fellow finalists including Sage the Rager, Romeo Swag, 99 Phaces, and BigMoon. This victory positions her as the rightful successor to Afro-soul singer Bleau, the winner of the previous year’s competition.
Essilfie’s prize package is a testament to her rising status in the music industry. It includes an exclusive studio session with a renowned producer and a coveted performance slot on the TuneCore stage at the upcoming AfroFuture festival. AfroFuture praised Essilfie’s outstanding performance, stating, “She didn’t just participate; she owned the stage, making it clear why she’s the undisputed winner.”
Expressing her gratitude for the accolade, Essilfie remarked, “Big shoutout to everyone who supported me on this journey. This is a dream come true, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”

Her achievements also include receiving a grant from the British Council in Accra as part of the Creative Enterprise Support Programme.
Essilfie’s discography features hits such as ‘Aben Wo Ha,’ ‘Prayed Up,’ ‘Fake Love,’ and ‘Let Me In.’ In 2022, she collaborated with local DJ-producer Dredw on the EP ‘Luv Lyf.’
In a parallel category, UK-based DJ Tiannah secured victory in the AfroFuture Rising DJ and Producer Challenge 2023. Her prize includes airfare to Accra, a performance opportunity at TuneCore’s AfroFuture Mixer, and a slot on the TuneCore Stage at the AfroFuture festival in December. Additionally, DJ Tiannah received a special prize package from Native Instruments and Splice.
AfroFuture 2023, headlined by Nigeria’s Davido and Ghana’s Black Sherif, showcased an array of talent, solidifying its reputation as a premier platform for celebrating African musical excellence. Essilfie and DJ Tiannah’s victories mark a promising start to their musical journeys in the vibrant and evolving African music scene.
