Cardi B is getting brutally honest about love, loss, and finding her strength again. The Grammy-winning rapper recently sat down with Jay Shetty on his On Purpose podcast, where she opened up about the emotional toll of her breakup with ex-husband Offset — and the difficult path that led her to acceptance.
In the candid conversation, Cardi didn’t hold back. She described the quiet unraveling of their relationship, revealing that she could sense when the spark was fading.
“I felt the love dying. From my end, from his end,” she admitted, her voice breaking slightly as she recalled the painful realization.
For the star, walking away wasn’t easy. Cardi shared that letting go meant battling her emotions daily, confessing,
“I was crying every day. I was hurt every day.”
Despite the heartbreak, she tried to hold on — especially when she discovered she was pregnant with her third child, Blossom. Cardi said that moment pushed her to reflect and take responsibility for her part in the relationship’s struggles.
“I told myself, ‘I’m pregnant. I’m going to accept my flaws — the flaws that I bring into this marriage. I’m going to apologize for it, and I’m going to work on it.’”
But her efforts were met with disappointment. The rapper explained that instead of reconciliation, she was met with a reaction that made her feel taken for granted.
“When I take accountability and you take advantage of me taking accountability and you take that as, ‘See, I knew she’d be back,’ instead of seeing my effort — it really just killed everything.”
That moment became the breaking point. Cardi says she knew it was time to move forward — not for anyone else, but for herself.
Now, a year after finalizing her divorce, the “Bongos” hitmaker says she’s in a completely different space — one built on peace, healing, and newfound confidence.
“I’m the strongest I have ever been,” she said, smiling.
Fans have watched Cardi weather public ups and downs in her relationship with Offset over the years, but this time, her message feels different — more grounded, more self-aware, and deeply human.
Through the tears, growth, and eventual self-love, one thing is clear: Cardi B’s story isn’t about heartbreak anymore. It’s about healing.
