The prestigious Nigerian music awards, The Headies, is gearing up for a groundbreaking year with two editions slated to take place in 2025. Ayo Animashaun, the founder of The Headies, made the announcement during an event held on Tuesday evening in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The first of the two editions, the 17th Headies, is scheduled for April 5, 2025, and will honor music released in 2024. Animashaun further disclosed that the nominations list for this edition would be unveiled on February 12, 2025.
The second installment, the 18th Headies, will take place in December 2025, although the specific date remains under wraps.
This marks a notable return of The Headies to Nigerian soil, following the hosting of its 2022 and 2023 editions in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. The decision to bring the awards back home was first announced in February 2024.
Since its inception in 2006, The Headies has been celebrated as one of the most prominent platforms for recognizing exceptional talent and achievements within the Nigerian music industry. With two editions planned for 2025, the awards are set to make an even bigger impact on the music scene.
