Kid Cudi Reveals J. Cole Ignored His Request for Collaboration

In a surprising revelation, rapper Kid Cudi shared that his attempts to collaborate with fellow hip-hop legend J. Cole have gone unanswered. During a Twitter exchange on September 18, Cudi responded to a fan’s inquiry about a potential collaboration with J. Cole by explaining that Cole has remained silent on the matter.

“I always wanted to do something, so I reached out for INSANO, no response. So, there’s that,” Cudi tweeted, referring to his upcoming project. He further elaborated that this wasn’t the first time he had tried to work with Cole. Back in 2013, he reached out for his Indicud album, but things didn’t pan out. “I had a session with Cole for Indicud. He couldn’t write to the beat I produced. It was a bummer,” Cudi recalled.

Despite the lack of a response, Cudi was quick to shut down any rumors of bad blood between the two artists. He expressed admiration for J. Cole, writing, “Cole’s dope. I fux with him. I don’t think Cole dislikes me, I think he just didn’t connect with what I sent him. One day, hopefully, it happens.”

This isn’t the first time Kid Cudi has made headlines over potential collaborations. Earlier this year, Cudi raised eyebrows when he expressed disinterest in working with Childish Gambino. However, Gambino quickly dispelled any rumors of a feud, stating on Instagram Live that he had no issues with Cudi or anyone else.

As for Cudi’s upcoming album INSANO, fans shouldn’t expect a lot of features. He mentioned there might be “maybe 1 or 2” collaborations, but emphasized that they would only happen if they come together organically.

For now, while fans may have to wait to see a Kid Cudi and J. Cole track, it’s clear that Cudi remains hopeful for a future collaboration and continues to respect Cole as an artist.
