Big Sean has been on a creative streak lately, and fans have more reason to be excited. The rapper, who just dropped his much-anticipated comeback album Better Me Than You, recently confirmed that a follow-up to his collaborative project with Jhené Aiko is in the works. During a recent interview with Complex, Sean shared that he’s not only continuing to push out solo music but is also planning to reunite with Aiko for a new TWENTY88 album.

The two artists, who share both a romantic relationship and a child, released their first joint album TWENTY88 back in 2016. The project was well-received, showcasing their chemistry both musically and personally. Now, after years of speculation, Big Sean has confirmed they are gearing up for a sequel. “I’ve been thinking of [the album] as something alive, something we need to nurture,” Sean told Complex. “I was going to wait longer to drop it, but I feel like now’s the right time.”

Sean has been anything but idle since releasing Better Me Than You. His creative drive is evident as he continues to work on multiple projects simultaneously. In addition to the TWENTY88 album, Sean is also collaborating with renowned producer The Alchemist on a separate joint project. The duo recently worked together on Larry June’s The Great Escape, with Alchemist producing the standout track “Together Forever” from Sean’s latest album. Sean hinted at saving some of those tracks for a future project, explaining, “That’s part of a side quest with Alchemist that we’ve been working on for a while.”

While the sales for Better Me Than You may not have shattered records, Big Sean’s excitement for his upcoming collaborations remains undeterred. He emphasized the importance of finding the right place for each song, pointing out that certain tracks, like a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, might be better suited for the upcoming TWENTY88 album. “One of the Twenty88 songs, I was like, ‘Oh, this fits better here,’ but it wasn’t all the way done yet,” he said.

Despite the scattered nature of his recording process, Sean is determined to get everything aligned, whether it’s his work with Jhené Aiko or his ongoing partnership with The Alchemist. Fans can look forward to a resurgence of the soulful, intimate vibe that made TWENTY88 a fan favorite while also anticipating more of Sean’s introspective solo work.

Big Sean’s ability to balance multiple projects, all while exploring different sounds and themes, is a testament to his growth as an artist. Whether it’s the forthcoming TWENTY88 project or his work with The Alchemist, one thing is clear—Big Sean is not slowing down anytime soon.
