Rapper Blueface, known for his hit “Thotiana,” is making headlines after a newly-released mugshot shows a notable transformation since his transfer to North Kern State Prison in California. The image, obtained on September 5, reveals the artist sporting a low-cut hairstyle and an orange prison jumpsuit—an apparent departure from his signature “broccoli” hairstyle.
Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Porter, is currently serving a four-year sentence stemming from a probation violation related to a 2021 assault. Following his transfer, Blueface has been placed in the general population of the prison, where he’ll have access to various rehabilitation programs, including educational classes, job training, religious services, and substance abuse counseling. These resources aim to prepare him for life after his eventual release.
In a conversation with Gina Views on the “Effective Immediately” episode, Blueface opened up about his prison experience for the first time. He revealed that he had received a one-year credit on his sentence, reducing his time behind bars to three years. Furthermore, he mentioned that he would likely serve only 33% of that time, potentially cutting his sentence down even further.

Speaking on his mental state, the 27-year-old rapper seemed unfazed by his situation, telling Gina, “I’m chilling, I’m in my environment. You know imma always soak up and adapt to it, it ain’t really nothing. It’s like a little break from responsibility, honestly.” Despite his nonchalant demeanor, Blueface did acknowledge that his physical appearance had changed since entering prison, sharing that he now weighs 180 pounds, the heaviest he’s ever been. “I’m getting sized up; I’m about to bounce out looking like a Dalmatian,” he joked.
The rapper also discussed his relationship with fellow artist Chrisean Rock, who is currently serving her own sentence related to a 2022 felony charge in Oklahoma. Blueface noted that the two remain in contact, speaking on three-way calls. Chrisean, whose mugshot recently went viral, faces serious charges, including possession and distribution of controlled substances. If convicted, she could face up to eight years in prison.
As both Blueface and Chrisean navigate their respective legal battles, the rapper remains optimistic about his future, expressing confidence in his ability to adjust and thrive under challenging circumstances. With time to reflect and resources at his disposal, Blueface may find this period behind bars an opportunity for growth and change.
